NEW DELHI: A cavalcade of 60-odd cars and around 200 supporters pledging allegiance to the outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, reached the headquarters of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) here on Monday, an indication to show that the six-time Lok Sabha MP – accused of sexually harassing female wrestlers – still holds firm control over the affairs of the association.
In a show of strength and, led by Brij Bhushan’s son-in-law from the Bihar wrestling unit, Vishal Singh, loyalists from 20 out of 25 state units assembled at the room of WFI’s returning officer, former J&K High Court Chief Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar, at the IOA Bhawan to present their candidature for different posts on the last day of filing nominations for the federation’s elections scheduled on August 12.
