Shoulder injury sidelines Giants veteran Coniglio

Greater Western Sydney midfielder Stephen Coniglio has avoided surgery but will be out of AFL action for at least a month with a shoulder injury.

The midfielder dislocated his right shoulder in an innocuous incident in the opening quarter of the Giants' four-point win over Geelong on Saturday.

He returned to play after being assessed immediately following the incident, but was eventually substituted off in the second term.

Coniglio is slated to spend four to six weeks in recovery.

The veteran Giant missed four weeks earlier in the season with a minor medial collateral ligament tear sustained in round five.

GWS will also be without Harry Perryman for at least three weeks after the defender injured his hamstring late in the win over the Cats.

The Giants head into their bye round with a 13-name injury list, after influential midfielder Josh Kelly and defender Lachie Ash suffered calf tendon injuries against Essendon.

Kelly is expected to return in two to three weeks, while Ash will need at least three weeks.
