With the Tennessee Titans likely sitting star running back Derrick Henry in Week 17, fantasy football managers are now scrambling to replace one of their best assets in the league championship, which is just brutal.
When trying to replace your running back, the first step is to see who is behind him in the pecking order. For the Titans, it’s rookie running back Hassan Haskins.
The 2022 fourth-round pick is expected to get lead duties with Henry likely out (he’s doubtful), and that was pretty much confirmed by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Thursday morning.
Haskins should see good volume in this one, both as a rusher and receiver, and he has a favorable matchup against a Cowboys defense that ranks 22nd against the run.
Despite all that, he is NOT a suggested lineup option for Week 17.
With Ryan Tannehill out and Josh Dobbs making his first career start under center, an already struggling Titans offense will have an even tougher time moving the ball, as Dobbs will likely limits Tennessee’s passing attack.
The Cowboys won’t have to respect the pass, which means they can stack the box with impunity and stuff the run. Making matters worse, the Titans sport one of the worst offensive lines in football that is also missing three starters.
If you’re hoping Haskins will maybe fall into the end zone at some point, it’s possible but unlikely. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Titans fail to pass the 50-yard line the entire evening.
Of course, crazier things have happened than Haskins having a good game on Thursday night, but the deck is heavily stacked against him doing so. Find a solution elsewhere if possible.
