Thomas Tuchel lamented 'two or three' risky mistakes from his Bayern centre-back Dayot Upamecano as Manchester City built a commanding lead in their Champions League quarter-final.
The two teams were only separated by a Rodri screamer over the course of the first hour at the Etihad, but a storming last 30 minutes from the home team earned a further two goals as the Bundesliga champions wilted under pressure. Upamecano nearly worked his way into trouble when he played the ball against Jack Grealish in the penalty area, and soon after he was robbed of possession by the former Villa man, who backheeled for Erling Haaland to set up Bernardo Silva for the second goal.
City continued to rain shots on Yann Sommer's goal, and a simple move responding to a second ball after a corner was cleared allowed John Stones to head across the box for Haaland to notch his 45th of the season. Bayern boss Tuchel thought his team paid a heavy price for the errors that they made in a game that he suggested was closer than the scoreline made look.

"It was an individual mistake, a decision-making mistake and unfortunately on this level we got punished brutally," he said. "As I said before, this is the highest level in world football.
"It is normal, nobody takes his head off or is mad at him but this mistake that should not happen at this level on this part of the field. Upa[mecano] had unfortunately two or three moments where he took risky decisions where he did mistakes.
"He will learn from it, everybody did who played football, so no big things need to change but nobody was shy to say that you need a bit of luck and momentum in the game if you want to have a result at against City and we clearly did not get rewarded in the moments where we were good."
