It's New Year's Day and if you're thinking of spending the first day of 2023 indulging in some retail therapy, remember some stores will be closed today.
Several high street store bosses have decided to keep shops closed for an extra day, with some saying the gesture is to thank staff for their hard work last year. For some retailers it will be the third day over the festive period they've not opened, with some choosing to remain closed on Boxing Day as well as Christmas Day itself.
Don't forget that tomorrow is a bank holiday, due to New Year's Day falling on a Sunday, so that means shops will have slightly shorter opening hours than usual. Business will then generally return to normal from Tuesday, January 3.
