Shoppers rush to buy £35 heated airer that costs 7p to run as it's slashed from £249

Shoppers are going wild for a £249 heated airer after it was reduced to £35 - and now rivals major retailers like Lakeland and Dunelm. Heated airers have become the item for households across the UK as many shoppers looking for cheaper ways to heat their homes and dry their clothes.

Sales of heated airers have shot up in recent months as they are a cheaper alternative to the tumble dryer, costing around 10p an hour to run, whereas one cycle on the tumble dryer can cost up to £2 in electricity. It's no wonder retailers are struggling to cope with shopper demand, as many plug-in heated airers are currently out of stock.

However, deals site Wowcher has just relaunched a number of heated airers online, with three popular options now available to buy after being out of stock for several months. One in particular that's been in huge demand is the Electric Indoor Heated Clothes Airer from Hirix.

It can actually hold up to 10kg of wet washing over 12 metres of drying space, and thanks to its space-saving design, it can easily be folded away when not in use. There's also an illuminated on/off switch.

Designed to help you keep costs to a minimum, this airer boasts low energy consumption whilst also offering a practical way for users to dry your clothes indoors.

The airer is actually priced at £249 on the original seller's website, Hirix, but Wowcher has currently got it online for £34.99 which is cheaper than most heated airers on the market at the moment, including the likes of Dunelm and Lakeland. Lakeland's Dry:Soon three-tier heated airer is priced at £199.99.

The Wowcher airer has a 220 wattage, meaning it will cost just 7p in electricity to run over an hour. This is worked out by using the following sum -the kWh x the time it's on for x the average electric cost - on the sust-it energy calculator website.

In general, the cost of running an airer will depend on the model you've got, and the wattage it has - the higher the wattage, the more it will cost to run.

Heated clothes airers are like traditional ones except that they plug-in and the bars of the dryer heat up, shortening the time it takes to dry the clothes hanging on it.

Covers can also be bought for some too, which speeds up the time it takes to dry your clothes, like this Wowcher winged heated clothers airer which comes with an insulating cover. Wowcher also has this airer priced at £37.99, reduced from £119.
