Shop fire, Merseyrail chaos and teens party after police order

Good morning, here are the ECHO's headlines.

Merseyrail passengers met with chaos as power failure stops trains into Liverpool

Passengers on Merseyrail 's Wirral Line were met with chaos on Friday (June 24) morning.

Power supply issues between Hamilton Square and Liverpool have caused disruption on all Wirral Line services. Issues shortly after 7am meant trains were unable to travel into Liverpool.

As a result, New Brighton and West Kirby services will stared and terminated at Birkenhead North. Chester and Ellesmere Port services will start and terminate at Birkenhead Central. Additionally, many trains were cancelled and rail replacement busses were in use.

A spokesperson for Merseyrail told the ECHO: "Due to an electrical fault in the James St area, services are currently suspended between Birkenhead stations and James St stations. A rail replacement bus service is operation between Birkenhead North/Birkenhead Central stations and Moorfields station in both directions.

"Network Rail engineers are on site working to resolve this issue. Further updates will be provided via Merseyrail's Twitter channel (@merseyrail) in due course."

Teens party hours after police dispersal zone introduced

Teenagers partied and a young man was taken to hospital with a head wound just hours after police introduced a dispersal zone.

Merseyside Police introduced the dispersal zone in West Kirby on Thursday after reports of "reckless" and "criminal" behaviour in the area. The order will run until midday on Saturday, June 25 and means officers will patrol the area to deal with any incidents.

On Thursday evening, Wirral Police took to Facebook to issue an update on their activity in Cubbins Green and West Kirby. Officers found a group in the area, some of whom were intoxicated and needed to be collected by their parents, while one was taken to hospital.
