Shooting at party mansion kills 1 and wounds 3 others in North Miami-Dade, reports say

MIAMI — One person was killed and three others were wounded in a shooting in North Miami-Dade, police say.

The shooting was at a home in the 15000 block of South River Drive late Sunday, where a party was reportedly underway, according to multiple TV news reports. One witness referred to the home as “Boss Mansion” to WSVN.

When Miami-Dade officers arrived, they found a man and two younger people shot. A woman was also grazed by a bullet.

The man and two minors were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center, where the man died, according to Miami-Dade police. The two minors were in stable condition, police say.

What is ‘Boss Mansion’?

Boss Mansion is listed as a performance and event venue on Facebook and Instagram. The two-story home has five bedrooms, a pool, and a tennis court, according to property records.

The home apparently hosts “Vice City” parties every Sunday, with music, food trucks, artist showcases, twerk contests and jet ski and boat rentals, according to a March post made by “BossMansion305” an Instagram page with more than 10,800 followers that promotes concerts and parties at various locations across South Florida. On April 10, it promoted a spring break unsigned artist showcase and pool party.

Records show the home is owned by Boss Group Ministries, a not-for-profit corporation registered in Florida. The president of the organization is Maurice Symonette, who on LinkedIn says he is known as “Michael the Blackman.” He sometimes appeared during former President Donald Trump rallies with a sign that said “Blacks for Trump,” according to media reports.

Symonette, who was born Michael Woodside, was charged and acquitted in 1992 for participating in a murder on behalf of Yahweh Ben Yahweh, according to Local10.

On his LinkedIn, Symonette describes Boss Group Ministries as a religious organization and says the organization has been inviting “all” children of South Florida since 1998 to the South River Drive home every Sunday for its “Free Jet Ski/Mansion Party.”
