A recent photograph has revealed the cell phone and transmitter device discovered next to shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks following the attempted assassination of former President Trump. The image, obtained by a local news station, sheds light on the events that unfolded during the incident.
Crooks targeted Trump from a rooftop approximately 130 yards away while the former President was addressing a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The attack resulted in the tragic death of Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief of Buffalo Township, and left two others injured, identified as David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Following the shooting, Crooks was swiftly neutralized by Secret Service agents. The FBI later confirmed that Crooks had explosives in his car, which was parked near the rally site, as well as bomb-making materials at his residence. Sources close to the investigation revealed that multiple explosives were discovered, including an improvised explosive device (IED) found inside a vehicle.
The presence of these explosives raises concerns about the potential scale of the attack Crooks had planned. The swift response by law enforcement agencies likely prevented further casualties and averted a larger tragedy.
