Two people have been rushed to hospital following a crash after a car burst into flames in Westhoughton.
Emergency services were scrambled to Lower Leigh Road following reports of the collision at 8.15pm this evening (May 4).
Two people were assessed by firefighters before being rushed to hospital by an ambulance. Fire crews from Atherton and Leigh attended the scene, as well as the Technical Rescue Unit, and extinguished the fire.

The road was closed for around an hour-and-a-half.
This shocking picture from the scene shows the dramatic moment firefighters tackled the flames as concerned residents watched nearby.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said, “At around 8:15pm this evening (Thursday, 4th May), firefighters were called to reports of a crash involving two cars on Lower Leigh Road in Westhoughton.
“Two fire engines from Atherton and Leigh fire station, along with the Technical Rescue Unit from Leigh fire station, quickly attended the scene.
“Firefighters extinguished a fire to one of the vehicles, and two people were assessed by GMFRS trauma technicians before being transferred to the care of the North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.
“Firefighters assisted Greater Manchester Police to close the road while the area was made safe. Crews were in attendance for around an hour and a half.”
