Police have released a shocking image of a knife being carried by a teenage boy at a Metrolink station. Greater Manchester Police officers were in attendance at Altrincham interchange this afternoon (January 17).
The force says it stopped a 15-year-old boy who was 'acting suspiciously' at the station. Officers searched the teenager and discovered the knife.
He was one of two people arrested at the station. A spokesperson for GMP Trafford South wrote on Facebook: "Project Servator officers have conducted deployments at Altrincham interchange this afternoon.
"It didn't long for covert officers to identify a 15-year-old male acting suspiciously. A search of his person revealed a concealed knife and suspected stolen property.
"A second male took issue with the police presence and was subsequently arrested for a public order offence. Both arrested and en-route to custody."
Officers were in attendance as part of Project Servator, a 'highly visible' operation that can take place at public transport stations. GMP says the scheme aims to deter, detect and disrupt criminal activity by spotting the 'tell-tale signs' someone is set to commit a crime.
