A shocked Scots footballer claims a referee made offensive comments towards him during a game by questioning his mental health. Alan Murray was playing for Oxgangs Trinity at the home of Livingston FC Community Club at Eliburn Park in West Lothian on Sunday when the remark was allegedly made.
The 29-year-old mortgage adviser had questioned a tackle, which he believed was a foul, when the referee reportedly said: “What is wrong with you? Followed by "Do you have a mental health illness?" It is understood that the Lothian and Edinburgh Amaetur Football Association is investigating the incident.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Alan said: “I had a game for Oxgangs Trinity on Sunday who are not a very good side but it's just a group of friends who play together, they lose pretty heavily most weeks but there's never any complaints about referees.
