Shifting mobile phone locations of encounter cops bust lies, says Supreme Court panel

HYDERABAD: Moving cell phone locations of the encounter cops, who claimed to be present at the Chattanpally shootout site till late evening, proved to be a clincher for the Supreme Court-appointed commission of inquiry into the 2019 Disha encounter case. The probe panel also pointed out zero calls from their mobiles on the night before the shootout, indicating their phones were switched off.

The commission had sought call data records of these police officers between December 5 and 6 on 2019 to analyse data. “There was no activity on their phones from the night of December 5 to 6.30 am on December 6. No activity on official phones for a prolonged period suggests the gadgets may have been switched off, which in turn raises doubt on the encounter,” the commission said.
