Shia LaBeouf appeared in court Thursday, where a judge set his bail at $100,000 and ordered him to seek treatment following his arrest earlier this month for allegedly attacking two New Orleans bartenders.
The new terms of his bail, handed down by New Orleans Criminal District Court judge Simone Levine, came days after the actor, 39, was charged with two counts of simple battery and released from jail on his own recognizance.
After his release, one of the alleged victims, Jeffrey Damnit, asked prosecutors to upgrade LaBeouf’s charges, accusing the Holes star of lobbing homophobic slurs at him.
During Thursday’s hearing, Levine noted that the additional accusations have since been entered into court record, according to The Guardian.
She relayed her biggest concern was the possible danger LaBeouf poses not only to his alleged victims, but to the wider community as a whole, in particular the “marginalized community” that has faced so much “terror.”

In addition to the $100,000 bail and mandated rehab, LaBeouf is also required to undergo a drug testing program upon his release.
Ahead of the hearing, LaBeouf was required to take a drug and alcohol test. While his attorney Sarah Chervinsky insisted the results did not show her client under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances, Levine still expressed worry that the test results showed that the actor “does not take his alcohol addiction seriously.”
The Independent has contacted LaBeouf’s representatives for comment.
Chervinsky said she and her client would provide bond paperwork to the court shortly so he could remain out of jail pending the outcome of the case.
Meanwhile, Levine rejected LaBeouf’s request to travel outside New Orleans. He is scheduled to return to court March 19.
LaBeouf had been in New Orleans celebrating Mardi Gras February 17 when he allegedly got into a brawl with two bartenders.

Damnit claimed he ran into the actor around 5 p.m. Monday, when LaBeouf allegedly knocked him over. He recalled to The Hollywood Reporter: “Then he turned around screaming, ‘Don’t you f***ing push me. I’ll kill you.’ I hadn’t touched him.”
Damnit said he tried to deescalate the situation, but LaBeouf allegedly then shoved a finger in his face and called him a homophobic slur.
In a subsequent interview with The Guardian, Damnit said that he was wearing mascara, eye shadow and lipstick when LaBeouf allegedly attacked him while screaming, “You’re a f***ing f****t.” Damnit shared a video with the outlet that showed LaBeouf being examined by first responders at the scene before glancing over at Damnit and again calling him a slur.
“Keep on calling me f****t,” Damnit was heard saying in the video, The Guardian reported. The outlet noted that in initial police reports, officers said that the controversial former child star spoke about his Catholic faith and was heard saying, “These f****ts put me in jail.”
LaBeouf has long been outspoken about his history of alcoholism. Throughout the years, he’s sought treatment and entered rehab several times.
