Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington broke down in tears on Lorraine while discussing her fiancé's horror fireball stunt which left him paralysed for life.
The actress recalled the harrowing experience after her fiancé, Jonathan Goodwin, 42, nearly died twice following the accident.
Amanda's future husband was left in critical condition after falling 30ft to the ground whilst performing a dangerous stunt where he tried to escape from a straight jacket while being hung upside down in between two cars, which then burst into flames.
Recalling the life-changing accident on Lorraine, Amanda became incredibly emotional as she revealed that she almost lost the 'love of her life' to the dangerous stunt.
"He fell 30 feet and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs. Third-degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and, nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again," Amanda told.
Following the stunt, Jonathan spent four months in hospital recovering from his injuries.
Doctors have told the couple that Jonathan will be paralysed for life due to the severity of his injuries.
The 48-year-old actress continued: “He’s paralysed now he’s in a wheelchair. Unless there’s a kind of stem cell surgery or that thing that Elon Musk is designing with the little chip, he’ll be like that forever.”
During his appearance on Lorraine, in his first TV interview since the life-changing accident last October, Jonathan insisted that he feels lucky to be alive.
The stunt man gushed over his supportive wife to be, admitting that he would be 'lost' without her unwavering support and love. He said: "I did say you have a great out of jail free card, you can walk away. She told me not to be so stupid.”
Last October, Jonathan took to Instagram to share his story as he said that he was lucky to be alive following the horrific accident.
"You can't say you don't get out what you put in. I've tried my hardest over the years to be kind, thoughtful, honest, supportive and good. A couple of days ago my life took a complete left turn...and the outpouring of love from all corners of the world; from people I didn't even think would know or remember me...has just been astonishing," he penned on Instagram.
He went on: "There are a few people who should not remain nameless. Firstly Tony, Stuart and Jenni (not tagged as it seemed inappropriate) Milligan, Joe, Grace, Jane, Helen, mum and dad and Simon and Danny. Then most importantly my fiancé and the best thing to ever happen to me, Amanda." Goodwin proposed to Abbington just weeks before the accident took place."
Following the brave couple's appearance on Lorraine, viewers flocked to share their love and support ahead of their wedding next year.
"What an inspirational couple. They were made for one another and this seems to have only made them stronger," one gushed.
"Amanda and Johnathan deserve the world. What a power couple," another echoed.
"Crying my eyes out over these two," someone else shared.
