Sheriff Country’s Showrunner Told Me Characters Will ‘Clash’ During Its Crossover With Fire Country, And I Think I Know Who It'll Be

Pictured: Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox and Matt Lauria as Boone.

The first time we met Sheriff Country’s lead, Mickey, she was on Fire Country. Then, in Sheriff Country’s premiere, Bode showed up. However, now, we’re finally getting a massive crossover event from these two shows. So, with it coming up on the 2026 TV schedule, I’m starting to think about the character pairings we could get in these two episodes, and how said characters could “clash” as one of the showrunners told me.

Fire Country And Sheriff Country Characters Will ‘Clash’ In The Crossover

After a small break, Fire Country and Sheriff Country will return with a crossover episode on April 3 that will involve Bode, Sharon and Eve going over to SC, while Mickey, Wes and Boone come over to FC. So, we’ll get to see some new characters interacting with each other. That reminded me of a conversation I had with Sheriff Country’s showrunner, Matt Lopez, about this topic.

I specifically asked him if there were any relationships he’d like to explore more with the crossover coming. He told me, “100%,” and went on to say that while we’ll get to see pairings we expect, like Sharon and Mickey, we’ll also get some new and exciting ones too. Those characters might not get along well, either, as he said:

We're going to see some pairings that I think people do not expect and don't go so well, like people really clash. So I think that's one of the great things about the universe, and what a rich sort of galaxy of characters we've created, is that they can pinball off each other in these really exciting ways.

In the past, we’ve seen Sharon and Mickey’s rocky relationship. But we’ve seen them mend it over time, and we’ve also watched Bode and Skye interact. However, the connections between shows haven’t reached far outside the family. Now, it will, and I have a guess about who will be involved.

I Think The Characters Lopez Was Talking About Are Bode And Boone

Obviously, it’s possible that this crossover could feature tension between multiple different characters. However, a clip was released from this event that shows the fire and sheriff departments going up against each other in a game of softball. Notably, Bode and Boone get into quite a tiff. Take a look:

I mean, Mickey and Sharon get into it, too. However, that’s not really anything new. What is new is this tension between Boone and Bode, and I’m hoping that’s the “clash” Lopez was referring to.

The clip also shows both teams heading out to a fire, and they all find a bus in flames. The synopsis for the crossover states that Sharon and Mickey will have to “set aside their personal conflicts and unite their departments.” However, in terms of new pairings, I think Boone and Bode will have to do the same thing, too, and I’m even more interested to see that.

While we’ve never seen Max Thieriot’s Bode interact with Matt Lauria’s Boone, it can be assumed they have history, considering the fact that Mickey and Sharon are sisters. Plus, Edgewater is small, and occasionally emergencies call for both the sheriffs and the fire department. However, we’ve never seen that on screen. And I’d assume that Bode’s past and Boone’s job might not mix too well.

So, I hope we do get to see them “clash” in an even bigger way as they solve this case. Now, to see if that happens, you can catch the Sheriff Country and Fire Country crossover this Friday on CBS at 8 p.m. ET (and you can stream it the next day with a Paramount+ subscription).
