Sheridan Smith quits ITV's Starstruck after just one series 'due to scheduling conflicts'

Sheridan Smith will not be returning for another series of ITV talent show Starstruck, it has been confirmed.

The mother-of-one was a judge on season one of the show alongside Queen singer Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight and comedian Jason Manford.

However, due to her own work commitments, Sheridan won't be on the judging panel for season two.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline: "We would have loved Sheridan to have returned to the show but she has sadly had to decline due to scheduling conflicts with a new acting project.

"The team absolutely loved working with her, she was a fantastic judge and provided some invaluable feedback to the contestants. We wish her all the best," the added.

Starstruck sees ordinary people transform into their singing idols as they compete in teams - and features lookalike and soundalikes much like Stars In Their Eyes, which aired on ITV from 1990 to 2006.

The news about Sheridan's role on Starstruck comes a few weeks after she was spotted looking 'very happy and relaxed' while out for dinner with a mystery man in London.

The 41-year-old actress broke up with insurance broker fiancé Jamie Horn last year after three years of being together – and after welcoming their son, Billy, in May 2020.

The Sun on Sunday published a snap Sheridan and the mystery man chatting to a woman in the restaurant, while looking happy in each others’ company.

A fellow diner told the publication: “Sheridan arrived with her date at about 6.30 and they sat in the window, enjoying the sun. Neither was dressed up.

“Sheridan was in a black hoodie and sunglasses – but they seemed very happy and relaxed. After their drinks and dinner, they left together," they added.

The Mirror has contacted a representative for Sheridan Smith asking for comment.
