Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders figures to be one of the top picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. He has just a handful of games left in a Buffaloes uniform before going pro, but he has already symbolically handed over the reigns to the next quarterback to play in Boulder.
#2 Recruit Julian Lewis Commits To Deion Sanders, Colorado
Julian Lewis is the #2 ranked player on the 2025 ESPN 300 recruiting list. The talented quarterback from Carrollton, Georgia recently pulled out of his long-standing commitment to play at USC, after which the Buffaloes became immediate front-runners. He took to the Pat McAfee show on Thursday to announce that he would be committing to the University of Colorado, and will follow in the footsteps laid down by the current quarterback.

Along with his father, Shedeur Sanders has helped bring Colorado back to relevance. After being one of the worst teams in all of college football for a handful of years, Deion and Shedeur have the team in position to be one of the 12 teams that qualifies for the playoffs this year. The school is constantly in the headlines and news cycle, and the entire university benefits from the financial rewards.
It will help for future recruiting classes as well, starting with Lewis in 2025.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete,” Lewis said. “Colorado wasn’t recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing. This is only the beginning. I trust Coach Prime and [offensive coordinator Pat] Shurmur to help me become the player that I want to be.”
The commitment brings life to a picture that Sanders posted back in June. When Lewis was on a recruiting trip to Colorado, the two had a photo shoot that featured the prospect sitting on a throne in a full Buffaloes uniform, with Sanders standings next to Lewis and handing him car keys.
Since The ESPN 300’s inception in 2006, only two players with top-ten rankings have ever committed to Colorado. Julian Lewis ranks the highest with his #2 designation, with the other being running back Darrell Scott back in 2008.
