A single puff of a cigarette has transformed a woman in Canada into a potent symbol of resistance against Iran's brutal suppression of dissent, capturing global attention.
A video, which has rapidly gained traction online, depicts the woman – identifying herself as an Iranian refugee – igniting a photograph of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, with a lighter. As the image burns, she uses the flame to light a cigarette, takes a drag, and then allows the smouldering remnants to fall to the ground.
