‘She Hub’ co-working space for women to be opened soon

The Thiruvananthapuram city Corporation's first She Hub, providing co-working space for women, is set to be opened soon.

The hub is aimed at providing working space on a temporary basis or for an extended period for women who lack such facilities at home. It can also be used by women workers and students visiting the city.

By next month

Work on She Hub, being constructed in the civic body's golden jubilee building located near Overbridge, had begun a few months ago, and is expected to be completed by April. According to Corporation officials, the facility will be equipped with computers, Internet connection, printers, scanners and other facilities required for working professionals and students.

"Already we have a short-stay facility for women visiting the city from outside. Now, women professionals can use the co-working space at She Hub for carrying out their work. Students preparing dissertations or reports, and do not have the required connectivity and facilities at home, can also depend on the hub. Smaller companies as well as individuals can make use of the hub for a few days or an extended period. A mini conference hall will also be available. The Corporation is also planning to set up a career-developing centre and counselling centre attached to it," said a Corporation official.

Nominal fee

Two storeys of the golden jubilee building are being used for She Hub. The facility can be accessed by women professionals or students by paying a nominal fee, which will be fixed and vetted by the Corporation council. Although the work had begun earlier, the project was mentioned in the civic body’s Budget for 2022-23 presented last week as part of the list of initiatives for women.
