Former Newcastle United shot-stopper Shay Given has sent new Magpies signing Nick Pope a classy message after the latter completed his move to St James' Park.
Pope has signed a four-year deal with Newcastle, arriving from Burnley for a fee of around £12m. While Newcastle already have a good starting option in Martin Dubravka, Pope will add extra competition.
The England international will now compete with Dubravka as the two battle it out for the starting Newcastle number one jersey ahead of the Magpies season opener against Nottingham Forest.

His signing is a shrewd one by Newcastle who are getting a goalkeeper who could enhance Newcastle on the pitch, or push Dubravka on to greater heights.
Following his departure from Burnley, Pope took to Instagram to thank the Clarets for the last six years, praising the town, the club, the fans and his former teammates.
And Given, who made over 450 appearances for Newcastle which spanned over 13 years, took to the comment section to wish Pope luck of his move to St James' Park.
Given wrote: "Best of luck @npope29 amazing club enjoy the ride"
The former Republic of Ireland international was at Newcastle for the entirety of their European footballing days back in the 2000s. He left St James' Park in February 2009 to join Manchester City.
