Shaun Maloney has hit out at referee Alan Muir after the whistler sent Ryan Porteous off and gave Aberdeen two penalties.
Hibs took the lead at Pittodrie but the game turned on its' head thanks to a double of penalties from Lewis Ferguson.
The first was given for a handball on Rocky Bushiri while the second saw Ryan Porteous sent off for bringing down Ross McCrorie.
Confirming Hibs will appeal Porteous' suspension, Maloney - whose team went on to lose 3-1 - says Muir got all the big calls wrong.
He claimed: “In the last half hour being down to ten men, it skews the feeling. But the game changed with two decisions.
“For the first penalty, the ball hit Rocky’s knee before it hit his arm. The rules mean it shouldn’t be a penalty.
“It was definitely a penalty with Ryan but he made a genuine attempt to win the ball, so he shouldn’t be red carded. The two decisions change the game.
“People make mistakes, I think the referee thought Ryan didn’t make an attempt to win the ball but if you look at it back he does go for the ball. He gets the man so it’s a penalty, but the red card is incorrect.”
Maloney admitted his coaching staff got an explanation from Muir for his calls and it might have changed if Scottish football had VAR.
He admitted: “He didn’t see the ball deflect off Rocky’s knee onto his arm.
“If he’s got that wrong he says he apologises, but people make mistakes.
“When we have moments like that, it’s very difficult. But that’s football.”
Hibs slipped down to fifth and Maloney knows Dundee United after the international break will be massive for their top six ambitions.
He stated: “We need a big performance against Dundee United but that's something we are more than capable of.
"But we showed that in the last game against Motherwell and we need to show that again against United.”
