Sharon Stone has unleashed a fiery takedown of society’s ongoing discomfort with nudity, blasting the idea that women should hide their bodies — or be ashamed of the most basic parts of being human.
In a new video that’s already causing a stir, the Hollywood icon questioned why, in 2026, people are still more scandalised by skin than by violence.
She began the candid clip: “Are we supposed to be terrified when we look in the mirror?
“Is it supposed to be a secret when we pee and poo and brush our teeth? Why are we supposed to be afraid of our own human self? It’s like the weirdest idea in the world to me.”
The 67-year-old actress didn’t hold back, doubling down: “Excuse me, I wear it every day. I get up in it. I go to sleep in it. I pee in it. I poo in it. It’s my apartment. I live here.”
Her caption called out the pressure placed on women to fear ageing or hide their bodies. “Why in 2026 are we still afraid of aging and living in our own selves?” she wrote. “We are more than appearance… we are artists, mothers, sisters, wives, nurses, teachers… and the list goes on!”
Stone revealed that her frustration boiled over after a recent incident in her studio. A filming crew asked her to move a painting — The Goddess, a portrait of a nude woman — out of the shot. That request, she said, summed up everything wrong with modern attitudes.
She added: “I got really fired up about this.
“We are afraid of nudity on our screens, our bodies, our home… but not violence or every other thing we are constantly bombarded with day in and day out? Get real!”
The Basic Instinct star previously shared how much she struggled with ageing in her 40s.
Sharon admits there was a time a couple of decades ago when she really didn't "accept" her body, but now she's older, she feels much more content with her figure.
Speaking to Germany's Vogue magazine, she said: "There was a point in my forties when I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine, locked the door, and said, 'I won't get out until I can fully accept my body.'"
Meanwhile, Sharon previously admitted she loves her body "so much more" now she is older.
The former fashion model said: "I like my body so much more. I'm so grateful to my body. When I was younger, everybody was telling me what was wrong with my body - too this, too that."
