Sharon Osbourne injected with ketamine three times to deal with Meghan Markle race row

Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she was injected with ketamine as part of her therapy to cope with the after effects of the controversial royal racism row she became embroiled in.

The TV star, 69, spent eight months being injected with the mind-altering treatment as a method to overcome the trauma of her exit from The Talk.

Ketamine is a medication that doctors use as an anaesthetic for loss of consciousness, but is also used in some cases to treat depression and effects include sedation and reduced sense of pain.

She had been a regular cast member on the US talk show since 2010 until her controversial exit in 2021.

The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne left the American panel show over alleged comments she made about race when she defended Piers Morgan after he relentlessly slammed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

After defending her close friend Piers during a debate with co-host Sheryl Underwood, Sharon found herself in the middle of a social media frenzy as thousands of viewers hit out at the former X Factor judge.

Sharon defiantly stood by Piers, 56, refusing to apologise and was then quizzed on The Talk by her co-hosts as to why she was backing the bolshy ex GMB host's point of view.

This led to led to a heated exchange with her The Talk co-host Sheryl and during the tense on-air row Sharon was accused of racism and as a result, the chat show was taken off air to investigate the incident.

Shortly after CBS confirmed Sharon's departure from The Talk in a statement.

Lifting the lid on her intensive therapy after the trauma of the controversy, Sharon admitted that she was injected with ketamine three times a week in a bid to get her back on track.

"Three days a week, I would go in for two-and-a-half hours and I would have this treatment called ketamine treatment," she told.

"It's something that they inject into you and it's sort of like a truth drug."

Sharon, who felt like a 'lamb slaughtered' during the confrontation, added: "Because I supported Piers I was branded a racist.

"I had all these nutcases threatening me saying they were coming in the night to cut my throat, my husband's throat and cut my animals up."

In 2021, Sharon took to social media to issue an apology over her behaviour on The Talk.

After she was slammed over the remarks, she apologised to 'anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused, or let down by what I said.'

She explained that she had "allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over".

Sharon was also accused of making a racial slur at colleague Julie Chen.

The outspoken star has denied all the claims.

When Sharon left The Talk reports claimed that she was going to receive a whopping payout from CBS.

A source told Page Six : “Sharon is walking away with a $5 to $10 million minimum payout and was able to spin that it was her decision to leave the show."
