ORLANDO, Fla. — A 28-year-old surfer was bitten on his foot, “presumably by a shark,” off New Smyrna Beach Sunday, Volusia County Beach Safety said.
The Daytona Beach man was surfing shortly before noon next to the New Smyrna Beach jetty when he fell off his board and was bitten on his left foot, Volusia County Beach Safety Capt. A.J. Miller said in an email.
The man, whose injuries were not life threatening, was driven to the hospital by a friend, Miller said.
Volusia County Beach Safety also rescued 38 people from the ocean on Sunday.
