Shannon Sharpe has responded to rumours that he's leaving Undisputed and Fox Sports with a series of likes on his Twitter account.
According to the New York Post, Sharpe's partnership with Skip Bayless will soon come to an end after a buyout agreement was reached with Fox Sports, which airs Undisputed.
The NFL legend's final appearance on Undisputed is expected to come following the conclusion of June's NBA finals, and Sharpe's popular podcast Club Shay Shay is also expected to leave Fox Sports. Sharpe's departure spells the end of his on-screen relationship with Skip Bayless for the foreseeable future, with the pair poached in 2016 from CBS and ESPN's First Take respectively.
Sharpe was a verbal sparring partner for Bayless on all things sports, with the commentator used to going up against Stephen A. Smith. However, their relationship had some low points, with the pair clashing on multiple occasions.
And in response to his expected departure from Undisputed and Fox Sports, Sharpe has responded in the form of liked tweets on Twitter. Instead of releasing his own message, Sharpe liked an opinion of a fan, which read: "Their relationship got progressively worse over the last 2 maybe 3 years because Skip fought for him to be on that show but I feel like Skip couldn't stand Shannon succeeding without and that's when Skip was taking pot shots on air."
"@FS1 keeping @RealSkipBayless and losing @JennyTaft @ShannonSharpe is like a music promoter keeping Weird Al Yankovic but getting rid of Lady Gaga and James Brown," another liked tweet said.
Another one of Sharpe and Bayless' big fallouts came in December when Skip seemingly took a shot at three-time Super Bowl winner Shannon retiring at 35, comparing him to Tom Brady, who lasted until he was 45. The obvious difference is that Sharpe was a tight end, whereas Brady was a quarterback. "I did what I did!" Sharpe responded to Bayless. "You make it seem like I was a bum! I'm in the effin' Hall of Fame. I got three Super Bowls!"
Sharpe then added: "You're willing to take a personal shot at me, to say he's better than me because I say he's playing bad this year?"
Whether Bayless gets a new on-screen partner is yet to be determined. As for Sharpe, many fans are claiming to follow him out the door and will take their viewership wherever he goes next.
