Shane Warne cause of death as family issue heart-breaking statement

Australian cricket legend Shane Warne died from natural causes, an autopsy on the cricket legend has confirmed. The 52-year-old died in Thailand on Friday and will be given a state funeral in his home country.

Police in Thailand announced the result of the post-mortem on Monday. His family has been told and accept the findings, the MirrorOnline reports.

Thai deputy national police spokesman Kissana Phathanacharoen said in a statement: "Today investigators received the autopsy result, in which the medical opinion is that the cause of death is natural.

"Investigators will summarise the autopsy result for prosecutors within the timeframe of the law."

Shane Warne's family has issued a moving statement: “To find words to adequately express our sadness is an impossible task for us and looking to a future without Shane is inconceivable, hopefully the mountain of happy memories we all have will help us cope with our ongoing grief.

His son Jackson Warne added: “I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart” Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same.

“But I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what. So, that’s what I’m going to do, try and be happy.

“I am going to miss you so much Dad and you were truly the best father and mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much Dad, see you soon.”

Warne shot to global fame with the ‘ball of the century’ to bamboozle and dismiss Mike Gatting in the 1993 Ashes series against England.

He went on to claim 708 Test wickets, the second-highest haul in history, in a 15-year career spanning 145 matches.

The bullish spinner also racked up 293 one-day international wickets, helping Australia win the 1999 World Cup.
