Stephen Bradley has backed Liam Burt to be a big success at Shamrock Rovers after the Scot jumped ship from arch rivals Bohemians.
The attacking midfielder has today completed his move across Dublin to the three-in-a-row champions having been a fans’ favourite at the Gypsies for two seasons.
Towards the tail end of the campaign just gone, Burt fell out of favour with caretaker Bohs boss Derek Pender before returning under new manager Declan Devine.
But it was known he would be leaving Dalymount Park, with strong interest in the attacking midfielder both here and in the UK.
But Hoops boss Bradley is delighted to secure the signature of the 23-year-old who was previously on the books of both Celtic and Rangers.
And the champions have also confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Alan Mannus and experienced striker Aaron Greene are staying on for another season.
“Liam has really good attributes that can definitely improve us,” said Bradley.
“He's very quick and direct and he's a different type of attacking player than what we have in the group at the moment.
“I've had a number of conversations with Liam, and we know he's had interest, both here and away.
“I'm just delighted that he sees the next step in his career with us and I'm looking forward to working with him.”
Bradley continued: “We tried to get him in the summer. We obviously didn't, but we're delighted to get him now. He's a player that we've liked for some time.
“His qualities and what he brings to the game is something that will make us better as a team and a group as a whole.
“When you look at his history and the moves that he's had, it takes a strong character and a strong person to make those moves and I don't see this one being any different.
“He's a great age for us and he has great attributes, so I've no doubt he'll deal with the move quite well."
While Burt moves to the Tallaght club, Rovers have confirmed that Chris McCann and Viktor Serdeniuk have left.
McCann’s young family still live in England and the former Burnley captain was eager to return home to them.
Meanwhile, the new Shamrock Rovers’ senior women's team are on the verge of signing Ireland international Stephanie Roche with an announcement imminent.
