Shakira is holidaying with her two children in the stunning Turk and Caicos islands as she prepares for her new life in Miami.
The singing star's whereabouts has been a mystery since she left Barcelona last weekend with sons Milan, ten, and Sasha, eight.
Spanish press said she had picked a "paradise and remote” place to relax after her emotion-sapping break-up with ex Gerard Pique, which led to her releasing diss songs targeting the retired footballer and his new girlfriend Clara Chia.
Today it has emerged she had picked the British Overseas Territory of the Turk and Caicos Islands, famed for its golden sand beaches and turquoise water.
The trip comes as it was reported she is planning to settle on the ‘billionaire bunker’ island of Indian Creek when she starts her new life in the States.
Her holiday destination in the Caribbean was revealed as she prepared to pack her bags again for a new flight to Miami, where her children are due to start school on Tuesday.
Shakira is said to have enrolled them at a well-known private school just north of the city.
Their new home will be a £14million mansion in Miami’s glamorous South Beach area which the artist bought in 2001 and is said to have put up for sale in 2018 before removing it from the market a few months ago.
But Shakira experts Lorena Vasquez and Laura Fa, who revealed Shakira’s secret holiday location overnight, also reported she is planning to move to the 300-acre Indian Creek in north-eastern Miami-Dade County so she and her kids can enjoy more privacy.
Its ultra-wealthy and high-profile residents include Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias, supermodel Adriana Lima and billionaire investor Carl Icahn,
It was reported earlier this year Tom Brady was continuing with construction of the mansion on the island, dubbed the ‘world’s most exclusive municipality’ which was supposed to be the new family home he was going to share with supermodel Gisele Bundchen before the couple’s divorce last year.
The island is only accessible by a two-lane gated bridge and you need to be resident or have your name on a verified visitor’s list to be able to get past security guards.
Thirteen full-time police officers secure the island by land and sea.
Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is expected to make his first visit to Miami later this month as part of his child custody agreement.
He can spend 10 days a month with Milan and Sasha outside of holiday time as part of the accord they rubber-stamped at a court in Barcelona in December.
Pique’s Spanish lawyer Ramon Tamborero is due to meet Shakira’s lawyer Pilar Mane after the Easter break to “dot the i’s and cross the t’s” according to Spanish press.
Shakira, whose split from Pique was confirmed last May after a relationship lasting 11 years, was pictured leaving Barcelona last weekend with her children.
She said in an emotional Instagram message: “I settled in Barcelona to give my sons stability, the same stability that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.
“Today we begin a new chapter in the search for their happiness. Thanks to everyone who surfed so many waves with me there in Barcelona, the city where I learned friendship is undoubtedly longer than love.
“Thanks to everyone there who encouraged me, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.
“Thanks to my Spanish fans who have always protected me with their love and loyalty.”
She went on to share a photo of a wing of the plane she left the Catalan capital on with Barcelona below it and added: “But things are not always how we dreamed them.
“At times we run but we don’t arrive. Never doubt that I’m going to be here.”
It was subsequently reported she left the city after being served with an “eviction notice” by Pique’s dad, although her plans to move to Miami had been an open secret and she had originally been expected to up sticks with her kids in January before her parents’ health delayed things.
Spanish media say the Colombian singer-songwriter received a letter telling her and her parents to abandon the ex-couple’s former family home after she performed her diss song with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap targeting Pique and his new girlfriend on the Jimmy Fallon late-night show last month.
In the song, one of two revenge songs she released after her split from Pique, she said without naming him or his new 24-year-old girlfriend that he had traded a Ferrari for a Twingo and a Rolex for a Casio as well as telling him to work his brain a bit more and spend less time in the gym.
The Turk and Caicos islands consists of two groups of tropical islands north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
They are known primarily for tourist and as an offshore financial centre, offering visitors great scuba diving.
