Shakira is reportedly "not interested" in pursuing a romantic relationship with Tom Cruise despite the rumours about the pair which have been circulating in recent weeks.
There has been speculation over the possibility of Shakira, 46, and Tom, 60, dating since they were spotted together at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami earlier this month.
It was recently claimed that Tom was "extremely interested in pursuing" Shakira, and "desperate" for a date with the star though she reportedly is "focused on her family" rather than dating anyone at the moment.
And it has now been alleged that Tom was "giddy" when he met the singer-songwriter, who announced that she had split from her husband Gerard Piqué last year.
Heat magazine alleges that she has been 'begging him to stop flirting with her,' citing a source, who made further comments about the pair's interaction this month.
It's been reported that the two celebrities have known each other "loosely" for years but hadn't spent time together in a "relaxed setting" until the Grand Prix this month.
The source suggested Tom was "giddy" when he met Shakira there, with them adding that it was similar to "how he acted" when he first got together with his now ex-wife Katie Holmes.
"He came away convinced they had a real connection they needed to build on," the source said. It's alleged that Tom spoke to pals about it but Shakira reportedly doesn't feel the same.
The source said that for Shakira, she was simply being "friendly" and posing for photos with Tom one minute, then the next he was seemingly describing her as his "dream woman".
According to the source, the situation is said to have been "too much" for Shakira, who has reportedly since had to deal with questions over whether she was dating Tom.
The source added: "She doesn't want to embarrass or upset him, but there's no attraction or romance on her part - she was just being friendly. She's flattered but not interested".
It has been claimed that this "message" has been "politely" shared with Tom, who the source said isn't giving up on finding love again despite Shakira reportedly not being interested.
The source claimed it has been a "struggle" for him to find the "right person," adding that he has "the highest standards" and won't settle for "second best" in a potential partner.
It was suggested that he may want to consider changing his approach, with the source commenting to the outlet that "being full on isn't working" at least in the case of Shakira.
