A woman charged over a fatal crash on Canberra's Hindmarsh Drive last year has been committed to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court, though her fitness to enter pleas to the charges she faces remains in question.
Warning: This story contains a confronting image.
Matthew McLuckie was killed on his way home from work when another car, allegedly driven by Shakira Adams, struck his vehicle.
Mr McLuckie, 20, had been travelling home from his job at Canberra Airport at the time of the crash.
He was pulled from the wreckage of his car and taken to hospital but died of his injuries.
Ms Adams, also 20, suffered severe injuries and has been receiving care in hospital ever since.
Police allege she was travelling at 177 kilometres per hour at the time of the crash.
She appeared via video link in the ACT Magistrates Court from the Canberra Hospital today, accused of causing the crash while driving a stolen car on the wrong side of the road, while under the influence of a drug and without a licence.
Ms Adams was assisted by a carer who helped her tell the magistrate her date of birth.
Her lawyer told the court the case could be committed to be heard in court, but the question of Ms Adams's fitness to plead remains unresolved.
That question will go before the Supreme Court next month.
Police have previously said they believe another vehicle may also have been travelling on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash, and in December said they were following up on "significant leads" in the hunt for that driver.
