Saint Peter’s head coach Shaheen Holloway had a simple message for his Peacocks after the 15-seed underdog upset 3-seed Purdue in the Sweet 16. Holloway struggled to hear the questions from CBS’s Jaime Erdahl as his exuberant team surrounded him on the court, but the statement came through loud and clear.
“What are they going to say now?”
The Peacocks were 12.5-point underdogs (per Tipico Sportsbook) to the Big Ten’s Boilermakers heading into Friday night’s game in Philadelphia. Purdue had a massive size advantage, but Saint Peter’s did not blink once in the face of the massive challenge.
Saint Peter’s has become the feel-good storyline of this year’s NCAA tournament as the plucky squad from Jersey City has run through Kentucky, Murray State and now Purdue. They’re the first ever 15-seed to make the Elite Eight, so the dream continues.
