NEW DELHI: Shabnam Shakil, a promising medium-pacer, has earned her maiden call-up to the Indian women's cricket team for the current series against South Africa at home.
The 17-year-old has been selected for all three formats, joining the squad midway through the ODI series in Bengaluru, where India has already secured a decisive 2-0 lead.
Apart from the inclusion of Shakil, the Indian selectors have decided to retain the rest of the squad for the remaining matches. The third and final ODI is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Bengaluru.
Following the conclusion of the ODI series, the teams will travel to Chennai for the solitary Test match, which is set to be played from June 28 to July 1. The series will then conclude with three T20 Internationals, to be held on July 5, 7, and 9, respectively.
