The police have arrested six persons in connection with the sexual abuse of a minor girl after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) directed the police to charge cases against them. The arrested were identified as Raghu, 51; Ramapuram resident Thankachan, 56; Edavetty resident Binu, 43; Kodikkulam resident Chacko, 27; Vellaramkallu resident Sajeev, 55; and Malappuram resident Johnson, 50.
The CWC also directed the police to charge cases against the mother and grandmother of the girl for not preventing the abuse. The girl’s father had died a few years ago. The girl told the police that 15 persons, including her relatives, had sexually abused her from the age of 15 years.
The girl was admitted to a hospital after she complained of abdominal pain and it was found that she was pregnant. The hospital authorities informed the police.
