Severn Trent has confirmed that there is no hosepipe ban currently in place for Nottingham or Nottinghamshire, despite drought status being issued. The water supplier is following its Drought Action Plan and has not hit the triggers for a hosepipe ban.
Some parts of the country have been issued hosepipe bans, which forbids households using hosepipes to water their gardens or clean cars. This ban also means that ponds and swimming pools cannot be filled.
A leaked internal Environment Agency document showed that Severn Trent Water might be considering a ban, but a spokesperson for the water supplier has confirmed that there is no hosepipe ban in place for any parts of Nottinghamshire. This confirmation came after the East Midlands was moved to drought status on Friday, August 12.
