‘Severe mud’ holding back Ukrainian counter-attack to harden in weeks

Ground conditions hampering military advances in Ukraine are set to improve “in coming weeks,” British defence chiefs said on Friday, amid expectations of a Ukrainian counter-offensive soon.

They stressed that thousands of mines dispersed in key zones are having a bigger impact on stopping “off-road manoeuvre” rather than boggy ground.
