Severe dense fog hits Leeds again on Tuesday as Met Office predicts poor visibility

Leeds is set for a quiet clear morning but that will all change by 8am.

A promising start with no clouds, no rain, and medium visibility will change rapidly. Fog is set to grip the city from 8am till 10am. During this time visibility will be so poor that driving and even walking will be outright dangerous.

As the fog subsides, storm clouds will gather. Although there is little chance of rain the conditions will still be poor. And then there is the cold.

Temperatures will feel like 3C and most 4C - by far some of the coldest we have seen this year. This will not change much and the high humidity will make for cold cheeks.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Mist and fog slowly lifting into low cloud through Tuesday and breaking, but persisting in some rural spots all day.

"Some sunny spells developing. Chilly, especially where fog does persist. Maximum temperature 8 °C."
