London travel news LIVE: Tube running smoothly after earlier delays and suspensions

The Tube and Overground network are now running a good service after earlier travel chaos this morning.

The Northern and Piccadilly lines both suffered major disruption due to signal failures and faulty trains, and there were further delays on the rest of the network, with both District and Metropolitan lines part suspended this morning.

Elsewhere, the Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice that are likely to affect services across the country today, as Storm Goretti approaches.

Customers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check for the latest updates as services return to normal.

Tube and Overground update

Here’s a full update on the Tube and Overground at the moment.

There are minor delays on the whole of the Central and Northern lines.

There are also minor delays on the Bakerloo line between Queen’s Park and Elephant and Castle.

There is a good service elsewhere.

Metropolitan line update

Normal service has now resumed on the Metropolitan line following the earlier signal failure at Watford - there is a good service on the whole line.

Storm Goretti

A reminder that Storm Goretti is due to hit the capital today, brining strong winds, snow and ice, and impacting a number of travel services.

The Met Office have issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow, ice, rain and wind until the end of the day on Friday 9 January.

Most major UK rail services and the Eurostar will be impacted - you are strongly advised to check your full journey before you travel.

Northern Line update

The service is now improving on the Northern line - there are now only minor delays on the entire line following the earlier points failure at Hampstead.

Central line update

There are now severe delays on the Central line between White City and West Ruislip due to an earlier signal failure at Mile End.

There are minor delays on the rest of the line.

Metropolitan line update

The Metropolitan line is now open again between Moor Park and Watford following the earlier signal failure at Watford.

That part of the line is running with severe delays, with minor delays on the rest of the line.

Tooting Bec station

Here’s the view from outside Tooting Bec station this morning, as the Northern line continues to face huge disruption.

Northern line update

The Northern line is still facing severe disruption, with major delays due to an earlier points failure at Hampstead.

Tickets are being accepted on alternate route such as London Buses, Southeastern, Thameslink and South Western Railway services.

Central line update

There are now minor delays on the Central line due to a number of train cancellations.

Piccadilly line update

There is now a good service on the entire Piccadilly line.

Here’s a summary of the state of the Tube and Overground network.

The entire Northern line is severe delayed due to an earlier points failure at Hampstead.

There are minor delays between Queen's Park and Elephant & Castle on the Bakerloo line, and between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge on the Piccadilly line.

The Metropolitan line is part suspended between Moor Park to Watford, with delays on the rest of the line.

Good service again on Circle and Hammersmith & City lines

District and Metropolitan lines update

There are now only minor delays between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway on the District line due to that earlier faulty train at Earl's Court. There’s a good service on the rest of the line.

On the Metropolitan line, there remains no service between Moor Park and Watford, and severe delays between Harrow-on-the Hill and Moor Park. There are minor delays on the rest of the line.

Tube and Overground update

The Northern line is now open again between Camden Town and Golders Green, but the entire line in running with severe delays.

The Piccadilly line is open again between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, but with severe delays.

Elsewhere, the Mildmay line is running a good service again, while the Bakerloo line has minor delays between Queen's Park and Elephant & Castle due to train cancellations.

Storm Goretti

Storm Goretti will bring strong winds, snow and ice to many parts of the country today, impacting a number of services.

The Met Office have issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow, ice, rain and wind until the end of the day on Friday 9 January.

There are minor delays on both the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines due to an earlier faulty train at Whitechapel.

There are also minor delays on the Mildmay line between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction due to an earlier electrical fault.

There is a good service on the rest of the network - we’ll continue to update you on changes throughout the morning.

Northern and Piccadilly lines part suspended

On the Northern line, there is no service between Camden Town and Golders Green due to a points failure at Hampstead.

There are also severe delays between Kennington and Battersea Power Station.

Meanwhile, the Piccadilly line is currently suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to a faulty train at Hillingdon.

Major delays on the District and Metropolitan lines

On the Metropolitan Line, there is currently no service between Moor Park and Watford, and severe delays between Harrow-on-the Hill and Moor Park, due to a signal failure at Watford.

There are also severe delays on the District line between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway & Richmond due to a faulty train at Earl's Court.
