‘Severance’ renewed for season 2 at Apple TV+

Don’t play where you work.

“Severance” has been renewed for a second season at Apple TV+, according to a press release.

“It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show — and the level of fan engagement,” said director and executive producer Ben Stiller. “It has been a long road bringing ‘Severance to television. I first read [creator] Dan [Erickson]’s pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi season story, and I’m really happy we get to continue it.”

The series stars Adam Scott as a man who unfolds the mystery of his work, after a surgical procedure compartmentalizes the personal and professional memories of his and his coworkers’ lives.

The news comes just before the season one finale hits the Apple streamer, which late last month made history after its film, “CODA” won the Oscar for best picture late last month — a first for any streaming platform.

“Severance” also serves as a reunion for Stiller and Scott, as well as Patricia Arquette, both of whom are also on board as producers.

The “Zoolander” star, 56, previously worked with Scott, 49, in 2013′s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” for which the former directed and starred in the titular role.

Stiller previously directed Arquette, 53, in Showtime’s “Escape at Dannemora.” Both scored Emmy nominations for the limited series.
