A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Wetherby Road, Scarcroft, reported at 6.25am this morning. A number of casualties have been taken to hospital and road closures are in place. Drivers are advised to avoid the area."

Traffic is queuing either side of the closure, and a school bus was originally trapped inside. It has since been let out by police, though is still stuck in the increased traffic in the area.

A resident of the area, who didn't want to be named, told LeedsLive: "This sort of thing happens all the time. The police might as well camp out on the road. I'm sick of it because I can't get out of my house. I've seen cars flip over and drivers go through their windscreen.

"It's too wide is that main road, people forget it's a village. It's just a nuisance."

Police are still at the scene and the road remains closed at time of writing, follow our blog above for updates on this developing story.
