Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are battling a grass fire in Rainham, with residents warned to keep windows closed.
London Fire Brigade was called to Lambs Lane at 1.43pm on Wednesday and were still on the site at the time of writing (3.20pm).
Road closures are also in place at Lambs Lane North junction with Upminster Road North and Upminster Road North junction with Launders Lane.
The fire site is close to Wennington, which was badly damaged during a fire last month.

“Fire crews from Dagenham, Hornchurch, Barking, East Ham and other surrounding fire stations are at the scene,” the fire brigade said.
“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
On Twitter, the force said two areas of grass are alight and that “residents in the area are advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke”.
Commenters said they could spot the rising smoke as far south as Thamesmead.
Another Twitter user added: “Smoke is blowing directly over my house depositing ash and God knows what else.”
The Met Office has already warned Londoners of the fire risk posed by grass dried by the hot weather as temperatures remain in the 30s this week.
Thames Water has also issued a hosepipe ban to preserve supplies.
