With the Queen's Jubilee weekend on the horizon, lots of us will be getting our shopping in ahead of the bank holiday - and you’ve probably spotted that the shops are full of royal paraphernalia.
Whether it’s printing Union Jacks across everyday items or giving snacks a royal makeover for the incoming street parties and picnics, big brands have sometimes gone a bit overboard jumping on the Jubilee bandwagon. While the supermarkets are no doubt offering a great selection for our long weekend plans, they’ve also brought out some bizarre additions to the shelves.
Whether they’re giving pigs in blankets a corgi makeover, stuffing coronation chicken into everything or turning the Queen into a carrot, the supermarkets have outdone themselves for this celebration. Here’s a roundup of the strangest Jubilee products in stores that nobody asked for.

Morrisons’ coronation Scotch eggs
Given that virtually all of the major supermarkets seem to have been on a mission to put a coronation chicken spin on every foodstuff under the sun, this was a hard one to pick. But Morrisons have earned a spot on the list for the most original - and strangest - twist on the classic.
Morrisons has given Scotch eggs a makeover, launching limited edition eggs with a coronation chicken filling. Elsewhere in their wonderfully weird Jubilee collection is Clarence, a swiss roll with an edible corgi face and paws.
M&S’ Jubilee egg sandwich
M&S is offering a mouth-watering Jubilee range which includes a limited edition ale, strawberry gin, delicious corgi-themed cakes and… an egg sandwich. But this is not just any egg sandwich - it’s an entire egg in a sandwich.
The M&S “special jubilee sandwich” features smoked ham, brown sauce egg mayo and a whole soft-set egg between two slices of white bread. It’s certainly an interesting spin on a classic - but we can’t imagine it would be the most practical sarnie to eat.
Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot royal pals
Kevin is beloved by kids everywhere since making his debut in the Aldi Christmas advert, and now he’s available with a Union Jack top hat or suit on - but it looks like wor Kev has made some royal friends too.
What better way to show respect for our longest-reigning monarch than by turning her into a stuffed carrot? And the Queen isn’t the only one to get a veggie makeover, with Prince Charles also being turned into a £3.99 carrot-shaped soft toy - with a surprisingly good likeness.
Asda’s ‘beans on toast’ Jubilee pyjamas
Our monarch reaching 70 years on the throne is a one-in-a-lifetime event, so it’s only natural that we may wish to pick up a few souvenirs to remember the occasion. And the shops have made sure we’ve got more than enough to choose from.
These George at Asda Jubilee pyjamas celebrate “typical British things”, including the Queen’s corgis and street parties to mark the occasion. But we’re not entirely sure we want to wear “rainy Sundays” and “beans on toast” as a badge of British pride.
Aldi’s royal take on pigs in blankets
You’ve heard of pigs in blankets, now get ready for *drum roll*... corgis in scarves! Don’t panic - they’re not made from actual corgis.
The £2.99 pooch-themed treats are made up of stuffing wrapped in crispy bacon, with cranberry pieces making up cute corgi faces. They might be one of the more unusual Jubilee food items we’ve seen, but there’s no denying they look tasty if you think the best way to celebrate the Queen is by nibbling on something that resembles her beloved pups.
M&S’ HRH roll
Another belter from Marks & Spencer makes the list, this time with their Jubilee special HRH - which stands for Honey Roast Ham, obviously. The ham roasted in honey and mustard is topped with HRH pasty lettering so there’s no mistaking the nod to Her Royal Highness.
Again, we’re not sure if a big ham is what the Queen had in mind when she imagined her subjects marking her 70th year on the throne. But seeing as it’s basically a giant sausage roll and looks pretty delicious, we’re hardly going to argue.
Tesco’s Jubilee oven gloves
Tesco really milked it when it came to giving their homeware section a Jubilee makeover, with royal-themed teapots, cake tins, mugs and drinking tumblers all hitting the shelves. But the collection has a couple of more unusual additions too.
The supermarket is also stocking Jubilee-print tea towels and an oven glove, so you can forever think of the royal family every time you wipe down the bench or take your tea out of the oven. Who could ask for more?
