Cruise ships can be one of the most intriguing places to work, and for some it's the dream job. You get to travel the world in style and can entertain a different crowd every night.
There are a number of jobs available on a cruise ship including housekeeping, entertainment, technical and retail positions. And if you fancy something with a little more magic, Disney Cruise Line is on the lookout for new employees.

Shipboard jobs
Youth Activities Counsellor
Some of the responsibilities include:
Work with and oversee all children participating in Youth Activities programs, ages 3-17 years old
Support the set-up for all facilitated activities and accomplish clean-up tasks upon completion of programs; monitor audio and lighting needs
Help with the cleaning and sanitizing of spaces and objects, before, during, and after the facilities open; keep all spaces tidy during operating hours
Provide registration/check-in/check-out services for Guests in children's spaces on the ship and Castaway Cay; operate multiple computer programs
Help organize adult or family activities as scheduled; may include welcome line, game shows, crowd control, hosting a lounge, bingo, Port Adventures dispatch or related
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 18 months' experience working with children in a high-volume, fast-paced environment in recreation, resort, day care, classroom, or before/ after school care setting, OR 3+ seasons (3 months each) of overnight and/or day camp experience
Must be at least 20 years of age
Can command the attention of a large group of children. Have experience working with at least 25 children, up to 200 children or more
Work without a day off for 4 ½ months at a time, and work 70-84 hours per week
Be able to adhere to Disney Cruise Line appearance guidelines
Comply with all company set procedures, along with all maritime and ship rules, regulations and procedures

Sr. Entertainment Manager
Some of the responsibilities include:
Manage daily operation of ship-wide entertainment and team members - including Entertainment Manager, Musicians, Variety Entertainers, Entertainment Hosts, Cruise Staff and Ship-Wide Performers
Call technical show cues for ship-wide events and performances where required
Monitor integrity and show quality of ship-wide events and performers including, Entertainment Hosts, Cruise Staff and Musicians
Oversee the execution of the Bingo operation, including inventory, monthly orders, hosting of sessions, training, achieving Bingo targets, completing financial reports, and communicating with shoreside partners.
Work with the Assistant Cruise Director on placement of ship-wide events for best capture and guest flow. Monitor GSM scores and propose opportunities for improvement to the Assistant Cruise Director
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a public relations, entertainment, guest services, resort/ recreational or related field
Minimum 3 years' experience working within a position that shows hosting experience, stage experience and public speaking skills
Experience leading and motivating a team
Previous shipboard experience ideal, but not mandatory
Ability to learn dance routines and dance in a 'club' style setting
Ability to learn and memorize scripts promptly
Handle demands, stay calm and resolves issues quickly
Relate well to audiences of all ages and demographics while offering a passion for engaging an audience in an entertaining program and event

LNG Engineer
Some of the responsibilities include :
"As the LNG Engineer on board Disney Cruise Line you would provide leadership, guidance and training to Engineering Officers and Crew as it relates to work associated with the gas system and LNG. You would report to the Staff Chief Engineer," Disney's website states.

- Oversee the operation and performance of the Gas Fuel System including supply to users
- Coordinate inspection, maintenance and repairs of the Gas Fuel System equipment
- Oversee bunkering operations including upper tank surface cool down, bunker header cool down, hose handling, bunker ESD test, hose connection/disconnection, tightness test, ramping up/down, draining liquid from manifold/hose and purging
- Operate and maintain the auxiliary systems
- Maintain cleanliness and general condition of all relevant spaces
- Work in close relationship with the Watch Engineers to ensure a safe and efficient operation of the Gas Fuel Plant and related sub-systems
Basic Qualifications:
- Chief Engineer unlimited license
- 2+ years sea-going as a Senior Engineer
- 1+ Year as LNG/Gas Engineer on Cruise ships, Ferries, Barges operating with LNG
- Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English
- Enthusiasm about guiding other team members
- Proven leadership skills, and ability to take command and make quick decisions under pressure

Automation Operator
Some of the responsibilities include :
- Manage the operation of Entertainment Automation Systems at the Walt Disney Theater including all stage scenic elements during shows
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of all rigging equipment used in outdoor shows and events
- Train in all outdoor rigging positions to safely operate during shows
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum five years show production experience in a similar role
- Experience operating computerized automation control equipment
- Experience or qualifications in a theatrical/ Entertainment-based rigging operation
- Proficiency with hydraulics, electronics, electric motors, motor drives and controls, manual and automated rigging devices

Electrical engineer
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Complete the monthly maintenance routines and report all completed work on the preventive maintenance system
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance, including troubleshooting, checking and repairing on Main Plant or Hotel systems

Costume/Cosmetology Technician
Some of the responsibilities include :
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all Cosmetology associated with ship wide Entertainment offerings
- Maintain, style and care for all theatrical wigs

Senior Technician Walt Disney Theatre

- Expertise with standard theatrical practices in a musical theater environment
- Can work at heights with heavy equipment and in environments that have second-hand smoke, pyrotechnics, chemical smoke, haze, fog, dry ice, and other special effects
- Experience with Audio Visual and Projection systems, Automation Desks, Stunt Rigging Equipment and Body Harnesses, preferred
