New Delhi: The mastermind behind a brutal murder in the national capital's Sarai Rohilla area has been arrested by Delhi Police said adding that the total number of people nabbed in the case has gone up to seven.
Six accused, including three juveniles, were arrested within two days of the incident, Delhi police said on Friday.
The incident that took place on the intervening night of May 8-9, a PCR call informing about a body was received at Police Station Sarai Rohilla.
"Immediately, a police team reached the spot at New Rohtak Road, Sarai Rohilla in Delhi and found a dead body from which blood was oozing. An inspection of the body revealed that it had around 100 wounds on the upper part.
Sincere efforts were made, but the deceased could not be identified. The body was shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem," Delhi police said.
The deceased was identified as Ravi Yadav, a resident of Patel Nagar in the city, by his wife in the mortuary of the hospital.
The deceased's wife stated that Yadav was a complainant and eyewitness of the case dated July 9, 2020 under Sections 302/307/34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act at the Anand Parbat police station in the national capital.
"One Kishan was arrested in this case and he was released on bail in this case recently, who was roaming around trying to kill her husband," she said.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 292/24 dated May 9, 2024 under Section 302 IPC was registered at Police Station Sarai Rohilla, upon the statement of the deceased's wife and the investigation was taken up.
Delhi Police said, "Six accused persons including three juveniles involved in the murder case, i.e. Ajeet Kumar Jha @ Gullu (22 years), Shiva (20), Iqbal (19), juveniles (14 years), 4), juvenile (17 years) and third minor (17 years) had already been arrested and apprehended within two days of the incident of murder. Four sharp-edged knives and clothes worn by the accused persons at the time of the offence were recovered from their possessions. But the main conspirator of the offence namely Kishan was found absconding since the commission of the offence.
Further, the team was directed to arrest the absconding accused Kishan, who is the mastermind and main conspirator.
Technical surveillance was mounted and intelligence was also collected from the local deployed sources.
On the basis of gathered information police nabbed the accused identified as 24-year-old Kishan a resident of Zakhira from Moti Nagar on June 14.
Delhi Police further said, "The accused Kishan confessed about to his role and involvement in present case of murder along-with his other six associates including three juveniles. Further, the accused person disclosed that on July 8, 2020, he along with his two friends namely Rajan and Tanbir quarrelled with the deceased Ravi Yadav near his house, wherein his friend Tanbir had opened fire upon Ravi Yadav, but the bullet deflected from the gas cylinder, which hit his friend Rajan, who died at the spot.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 162/2020 dated July 9, 2020 u/s 307/302/34 IPC was got registered at PS Anand Parvat, Delhi on the statement of Ravi Yadav. The accused (Kishan) and his associate Tanbir were running in judicial custody in that case. Later on, he was released on bail from jail in the month of December 2023."
Delhi police said that the accused met with the wife of his deceased friend Rajan and got married to her; promising her to take revenge from Ravi Yadav for the murder of Rajan. Consequently, he along with his associates had hatched the conspiracy to murder Ravi Yadav and they executed their plan in the intervening night of May 8/9 and murdered him.
Subsequently, on May 28, while he was roaming in Tikona Park, Najafgarh Road along with a knife, he was arrested by the staff of Moti Nagar police station and a case of Arms Act was registered against him and he was sent to judicial custody. Recently, he was released from jail, but again apprehended by the team of PS Sarai Rohilla on June 14 from the Jhuggi area of Zakhira and he was arrested in the present case of murder of deceased Ravi Yadav.
Further investigation of the case is in progress and the facts are being corroborated. (ANI)
