RAIPUR: Seven people from the state died due to Covid-comorbidities on Thursday. With the surge in Covid-19 cases, government and private hospitals in the city have started witnessing a rapid rise in the number of patients. Anticipating a further rise in the number of Covid patients, city hospitals have stepped up efforts to ensure the availability of beds, health care staff, and required medical equipment.
Chhattisgarh medical health department spokesperson Dr Subhash Mishra showed concern about the sudden increase in the number of deaths and the increase in covid infection. He suggested people follow precautionary measures.
The seven deceased patients died from comorbidities. During the examination, it was found that four patients hailed from Raipur, two from Durg, and one from the Bemetara district. The deceased patients were aged between 60,70,71,75,90 while a 28-year-old patient was also included. All these patients were already suffering from other diseases. The 28-year-old was suffering from TB and was not even vaccinated once, he added.
Meanwhile, the cases of corona infections are alarmingly increasing in Raipur and Durg with 102 and 101 identified on a single day on Thursday respectively.
According to the health bulletin released on Thursday, 203 positive infected patients were identified from the worst-hit Raipur and Durg alone. With the positive percentage increasing to 4.71 percent the state currently has 3596 active patients increasing the tally to 11,61,254. Meanwhile, the death tally changes to 14054 after the state identified seven fatalities on Thursday.
