Up in smoke: billions wiped off tobacco tax forecast

Firebombings and violent burglaries have sparked a renewed crackdown on illicit tobacco as taxes on legal cigarettes are labelled an epic fail.

Seven men, some allegedly linked to the Alameddine crime family, have been arrested across Sydney over the theft of illegal cigarettes and chop-chop, or loose tobacco, in the past year, police said on Wednesday.
