SETI Scientists Propose Using AI to Search Through Lunar Soil for Alien Dyson Swarm Fragments

Researchers affiliated with the SETI Institute have proposed using artificial intelligence to search lunar soil for microscopic fragments of possible extraterrestrial technology. A study led by Lewis J. Pinault was submitted to arXiv on 23 June 2026 and explores whether the Moon could preserve material from technological civilisations that disappeared long before humans began searching for signals.

The paper does not report evidence of alien technology. It remains under review by the International Journal of Astrobiology, after being submitted to the journal on 10 March and revised and resubmitted on 17 August.
