(Picture: PA Wire)A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been convicted of harassing a female colleague while on duty with unwanted texts, calls and emails.
PC Harvinder Dulay, attached to the unit covering Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Kensington and Chelsea, was convicted Thursday of one count of harassment after a trial at City of London Magistrates’ Court.
The force said PC Dulay, who is on restricted duties, will face misconduct proceedings “as quickly as possible”.
The court heard the officer sent a number of unwanted text messages, emails, and calls in February 2022 to a female colleague, while on-duty. He was charged on May 1, 2022.
Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, local policing commander for central London, said: “PC Dulay’s behaviour was completely unacceptable and it is right that he will now face the consequences of his actions.
“No woman who works for the Met should have to deal with repeated, unwanted messages, especially from a work colleague.
“I am glad the victim was able to bring this to our attention. Now that criminal proceedings have concluded, a misconduct hearing will be scheduled as quickly as possible."
PC Dulay is due to be sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 9.
The force said its Directorate of Professional Standards was aware of the case.
