A serving Met PC will appear in court charged with strangling a woman and damaging her phone.
PC Thomas Andrews was arrested after patrolling officers were called by a member of the public to Brockley Rise at 1am on Saturday, July 9.
A woman, who was known to the off-duty officer, reported the she had been assaulted and had her phone damaged.
PC Andrews, who has since been suspended from duty, was arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage.
He was kept in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court that same day charged with Actual Bodily Harm, criminal damage and three counts of intentional strangulation.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on August 8.
