‘Serious attempts to start negotiations’ between Kyiv and Moscow, former Ukrainian minister says

Tymofiy Mylovanov, Ukraine’s former economy minister, said both Russia and Ukraine are “serious” about their intentions to open new talks in an interview with Europe Today.

Negotiations are not a reality yet, insists Tymofiy Mylovanov, but there are attempts “to establish a process”, including a possible “trilateral meeting” involving the United States.

However, the former minister said Russia’s position “has not really changed since the February talks”. Russia's demands, including limiting the size of Ukraine’s army and recognising occupied territory, are “not feasible” for Ukraine as they would “contradict the Constitution”.

“That’s a travesty and no Ukrainian will ever accept that,” Mylovanov said.
